Man I loved the Super Friends! This show used to be the best. If you were ever into this show, just play the intro clip and remember how that music would just grab you? I figured today would be a nice day for a trip down memory lane.
Super Friends (1973)
This was the Wendy and Marvin time period. They were the group’s sidekicks and had their pet Wonderdog helping to save the day. The bad guys were really not from the comics and were often misguided and not evil. It was more like Scooby-doo with super powers.
The All-New Super Friends Hour (1977)
In the next version, Superman, Batman, Robin, Wonder Woman and Aquaman return with new sidekicks, the super-powered Zan and Jayna (The Wonder Twins) and their space-monkey Gleek.

Challenge of the Super Friends (1978)
Challenge of the Superfriends kept the sidekicks and also added Hawkman, Green Lantern, and The Flash. Appearing once in a while was Black Vulcan, Apache Chief and Samurai. Later they also had El Dorado and some guest stars like Rima the Jungle Girl, Hawkgirl and the Atom.
The Challenge of the Superfriends season also introduced the Legion of Doom.
Then there was the following variant shows:
- The World’s Greatest Super Friends (1979)
- Super Friends (1980-1983)
- Super Friends: The Legendary Super Powers Show (1984)
The Super Powers Team: Galactic Guardians (1985)
Galactic Guardians version and introduced Darkseid and his minions on Apokolips as recurring villains.
Finally, the most recent version of the Super friends…the Justice League. I only saw a couple episodes (with my kids) but it definately seemed pretty cool and enjoyable.
