Jake Gyllenhaal to play Shazam?

I’m just excited about seeing Shazam on the big screen, but he’s one of those super-types that a bunch of different people could play.
Jake Gyllenhaal may soon collect an awfully big paycheck as America’s latest superhero. We hear New Line execs are keen to have the “Brokeback Mountain” hunk play Captain Marvel in “Shazam!” Based on the DC comic, the movie is New Line’s bid for a franchise on the order of “Batman” and “Superman.” “They’re ready to spend up to $200 million to get it started,” an insider tells us. Sources say director Peter Segal and his fellow producers want to nab Gyllenhaal before “Spider-Man” director Sam Raimi does – with “Spider-Man 3″ due to open on May 4, star Tobey Maguire has said he may let someone else play the web slinger.
Shazam won’t be a huge as Spider-Man and probably not as big as the coming Iron Man, but I think it still could be cool in it’s own right.

why in the world would you think of making Shazam a skinny guy? Shazam suppose to have a body of a God! I hate when movies change super heros into some skinny twirp just because they can act. Just like when they made Venom a skinny villain and in the comics he’s clearly three times bigger than spiderman. I love the thought that Rock will play Black Adam but Shazam suppose to be a slight bigger than him not smaller. This is why superman wasn’t such a hit. Everyone would like to see two big god like figures tare up a city. like the fight between shazam and superman in the cartoon battle.
