Heroes star Greg Grunberg revealed to TV guide that he’s been cast in JJ Abrams’ new uber-secret monster movie, code-named Cloverfield.

“It’ll probably be something where no one will be able to tell it’s me,” he said. “As you know, J.J. calls me his good-luck charm, so he\’s got to put me in there somewhere. I actually went to the set the other night, and it was really exciting and cool. The budget is not astronomical. But they’re doing incredible things.”
Grunberg has been in lots of television shows, but here’s the scoop on why Abrams “had” to put him in the movie. Abrams and Grunberg are old friends going back to when the met…in kindergarten.
Well-known for playing sidekicks and amiable “wing men,” Grunberg’s career began its spike in the early part of the decade, paralleling the career trajectory of his lifelong friend, writer-director-producer, J.J. Abrams of “Alias” (ABC, 2001-06) and “Lost” (ABC, 2004- )fame. A charter member of Abrams’ informal repertory company of players, Grunberg appeared in several of the director’s earliest projects, beginning in elementary school. This friendship eventually resulted in a professional association that would continue long after both men’s careers had become famously established – with Grunberg’s star-making turn as the telepathic Matt Parkman on the monster superhero hit, “Heroes”.
