Review: Slither on HDDVD

Slither on HD DVDI rented Slither almost accidentally. I have a Blockbuster account, and was surfing through their movies one day, and happened to click on it. After reading the description, I thought, “what the heck.” I don’t normally like horror movies, but do like Sci-fi (shameless plug alert! Check out www.geekscribe.com!). I really enjoyed this movie and so did my wife.

Slither has both sci-fi and horror mixed, but it’s also incredibly funny. It stars Nathan Fillion (Serenity) among others and has Jenna Fischer, of The Office (maybe you’ve heard of it?) in an extended cameo.

The plot follows aliens attacking a small town and start taking over the residents one-by-one. There are some special effects in this movie that you’ll just have to see to believe.

Normally with these types of movies, there are a lot of parts where I think something is totally corney, but not in this one. It moves along so fast that any plot holes and gaffes, if there are any, don’t readily appear. I can say this. If you have read John’s recent post regarding movie truths, then you will understand me when I say: FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, IF YOU SEE A METEORITE CRATER WITH A SLIME TRAIL GOING AWAY FROM IT, DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT FOLLOW THE SLIME TRAIL!

Oh, and secondly, IF YOU SEE A HUGE SLUG-LIKE THING THAT IS OBVIOUSLY INTENT ON ASSIMILATING OR EATING YOU, DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT POKE IT OR PROD IT WITH A SHORT STICK. RUN LIKE HELL. Thank you, that is all.

This movie has it all, acting, story, and direction are great!
HDDVD Picture Rating:
Nearly perfect. I did notice some graininess here and there, but otherwise it’s a nice movie to show your system off with.
