Martha Kent (played by Annette O’Toole) is that perfect mom. She’s always supportive of Clark and always seems to know just the right thing to say at the right time. Since Jonathan Kent’s death however, she’s been extremely busy following the political path that he started.

“I’m not the kind of person who turns her back on her friends because of what people think.” - Martha Kent
Martha took her husband’s position in the Kansas State Senate where she served for over a year. Now with Lionel Luthor’s endorsement, she’s moved on to the US Senate position in Washington, DC.
“You know, you can save the whole world, Clark, but you’ve got to take care of your heart too.” -Martha Kent
We’re going to miss having Martha around to guide Clark, but it seems that he’s moving into a new phase of life and having a bit more freedom from parents is one of those things that needs to happen. As parents go though, Martha Kent is definately exceptional.
Interesting Note: In 1983 Annette played the role of Lana Lang alongside Christopher Reeve in Superman III.
