When spies get fired, they don’t get a letter from human resources. They get BURNED…
One of my favorite shows that I got caught up on recently is the USA Network’s original series, Burn Notice. Michael Westen (played by Jeffrey Donovan) is a spy who suddenly finds himself burned. He ends up in Miami with no money and no way to leave town. He’s got no passport, no identification, and Federal Agents keeping tabs on him.

While Michael works to find out who set him up for the burn notice, he uses his skills and training to help people in need. It’s a nicly stylish version of The Equalizer, or even and older favorite of mine Stingray.
Since, Michael needs some help to get things done, he recruits some “associates” and family into the mix. There’s his wild ex-IR, ex-girlfriend Fiona (played by Gabrielle Anwar) and old buddy Sam (played by the legendary Bruce Campbell), a beer drinking intelligence operative that helps Michael out and also reports on him to the feds.
Most notably, Michael is stuck dealing with family issues and about 20 calls a day from his hypochondriac mother Madeline (played by Sharon Gless). Have a look at the trailer for Burn Notice after the jump.
