We’re not even into 2008 yet and already the bad news is flying. The news is out that the next and final season of Battlestar Galactica is not going to start in January as originally stated, but in April instead. I feel completely let down by both the Sci Fi Network and by the production team.

Battlestar Galactica

They did this crap last season by making fans wait months and months beyond most normal television schedules. Is it even a wonder that after that and killing Starbuck for a while, the show lost a big chuck of it’s audience? I know people that enjoyed the show who just completely bailed after all that happened. They’ve had some of the dumbest decisions ever on a show that could have gone on for more seasons easily.

It was one of the best on television after all. I also feel like Ronald D. Moore started out strong and then just fell apart at the end. It seems like he killed Starbuck, realized most of the audience bailed and then announce the next season is the end.

At least they will hopefully tie things up for the whole arc, but I’m sure there will be problems wih that too.

Now for the even worst news. Yes…it gets worst. The season is going to be split into two parts and they’re not giving any promises that the second half of the season will even air in 2008. WTF?

Note to the Sci Fi Channel: You take the best show you have (and one of the best on television) and completly crap on the audience that supports it. What are you thinking? Does nobody there even watch the shows? Is there not one “real” fan in the bunch? The show was nominated for awards and completely beats other shows like Stargate or Flash Gorden. You really need some better fans in that place as consultants. I’m just saying.

No big deal. We’ll see a complete season of something else before BSG even rolls around again AND we’ll totally forget what’s going on with the series or why we should even care when it does come back. Thanks.
