One show that’s been a pleasant surprise this season has been Reaper on the CW network. It’s about Sam Oliver (Bret Harrison) who’s an average Joe working at a dead-end job in a Home Depot style superstore called the Work Bench. When he’s not hoping to get with his co-worker Andi (Missy Peregrym), Sam is busy doing some odd jobs on the side. Very odd jobs.
Sam’s father was once very sick and in return for restored health, signed away the soul of his first-born child to the Devil (the awesome Ray Wise). Sam now is forced to serve the Devil as his bounty hunter. Each week he tracks down souls that have escaped from Hell and captures them using various “vessels” shaped like objects specifically for each job.
The show is actually really fun and enjoyable with a mix of supernatural mayhem and light hearted comedy. The Devil is pretty much the boss that everyone can hate and Sam’s friends Bert “Sock” Wysocki (Tyler Labine who also played the suspicious brother in the television show Invasion) and Ben (Rick Gonzalez) are excellent comedic relief as they help him chase down the renegade souls.
This is one show I recommend you have a look at. With the writer’s strike still on, why not? Check out the funky “vessels” Sam has used to capture some souls after the jump.
