Well, this is interesting news. Marlon Wayans (AKA: the annoying one) has been cast in Stephen Sommers G.I. Joe movie from Paramount. This is the same guy that was in Scary Movie, Dungeons & Dragons: The Movie, Scary Movie 2, White Chicks and Little Man. My whole perception of this movie just dropped a bunch. The other castings are great enough to help keep me on board though.
Marlon Wayans has signed on to star in Paramount actioner “G.I. Joe.”
Joseph Gordon-Levitt is in negotiations to join the tentpole, which is based on the American soldier action figure created by Hasbro.
Wayans will play Ripcord, leader of the military unit.
Gordon-Levitt will play Duke Hauser’s best friend. He is the science officer assigned to the Special Forces unit. The role of Hauser is still uncast.
War-themed story is set 10 years in the future. Stuart Beattie penned the screenplay, while Paul Lovett & David Elliot and Skip Woods contributed earlier drafts.
The Stephen Sommers-helmed film is set to start shooting next month in Los Angeles. Rachel Nichols, Sienna Miller, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and Said Taghmaoui have already joined the cast.
It all sounds interesting, but Ripcord isn’t the leader. Duke is the leader, right? Have they not seen the cartoon? Lord…

I respect Marlon Wayons as a comedy actor, but the cast in this film makes me nervous about the story. I don’t want to sound negative about the character Ripcord, but he was not mentioned in most of the shows, even the movie in the 80’s, he was non-existent. Like most fans of Gi-Joe, we wanted Roadblock or Doc or even Stalker. I honestly don’t think Marlon would have been able to play either parts, so Hollywood; thanks for commercializing our heros. Yo Joe!

Marlon Wayons as Ripcord..WTF…Ripcord was not black..why the change. And number two Scarlett did not like Ripcord..she liked
Duke in the 80’s cartoon. I believe in the comics she liked SnakeEyes. TOTALLY LAME. I guess the PC folks had a hand in this crud. AGAIN TOTALLY LAME.
