Jumper is a good, not great movie. You’ve seen the trailers, surely. It’s about a guy that can “jump” anywhere in the world, instantly. It stars Hayden Christensen, of Star Wars fame. He does a nice turn as the slightly wimpy hero. I kept wondering, though, if he was going to pull a lightsaber out and slice anyone. Didn’t happen though! Oh well. Sorry if that’s a spoiler for you. Sam Jackson also stars.
Jumper is a movie that moves along so swiftly, you don’t really have time to see the plot holes. Everyone does a fairly respectful job at acting and direction is solid enough. What is it with handy-cams though? Argh. I hate them, and this director loves them.
I think the director also had trouble with his shoes when he was a kid. He obviously has trouble tying up loose ends, if you know what I mean.
It’s funny, because some of the special effects look awesome. Others look completely cheesy. That’s the problem with this film: the story and concept end up being bigger than the budget.
Since I love sci-fi so much, I was willing to look beyond the uneven special effects and plot holes. My wife wasn’t so willing. She said the movie was only OK.
