Taylor Kitsch from television’s Friday Night Lights has been cast in the role of the Cajun Gambit (aka: Remy LeBeau) for the in Gavin Hood’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie. There are supposed to be some other major Marvel characters popping up, but this is one of the first confirmed.
He’ll be joining Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), Liev Schreiber (Sabretooth), Danny Huston (William Stryker) and Lynn Collins (Silver Fox) in the 20th Century Fox release, opening May 1, 2009.
Leading up to the events of X-Men, “Wolverine” tells the story of Wolverine’s epically violent and romantic past, his complex relationship with Victor Creed, and the ominous Weapon X program. Along the way, Wolverine encounters many mutants, both familiar and new, including surprise appearances by several legends of the X-Men universe.
The source also said that Taylor has signed a three picture deal, which means we could get plenty more of Gambit in the future. There are also some rumours flying around (I think over at AICN) that Ryan Reynolds will be in the movie as the wise-cracking mercenary Deadpool. Now that would be awesome if it’s true!
