I loved the move Training Day and Street Kings looks like it has that same vibe, which is probably because director David Ayer also wrote Training Day and also did the screenplays for some other movies I like, S.W.A.T., U-571, The Fast and the Furious (it was alright…admit it). He also wrote and directed Harsh Times starring Christian Bale that was about a cop that was wrapped up in the thug street culture. This quote from Street Kings says it all.
“We’re the police. We can do whatever the hell we want”
