In The Name of the King Review
Thursday, April 17, 2008
So I’m a pretty big Jason Statham fan and I also really like sword & sorcery flicks so I figured this would be a great combo. Not only that, this movie had a ton of big names.
- Leelee Sobieski (who’s done plenty of stuff
- John Rhys-Davies (who was in Raiders of the Lost Ark, the Sliders tv show, and was in all three LoTR movies)
- Ron Perlman (Beauty & the Beast tv show and Hellboy)
- Claire Forlani (CSI and is gorgeous)
- Kristanna Loken (the terminator in Terminator 3)
- Matthew Lillard (Wing Commander and the Scooby-Doo movies among others)
- Ray Liotta (Goodfellas anyone?)
- Burt Reynolds the legend)
Sounds like it would be amazing, right? Big fat WRONG. This movie sucked so bad that it was next to impossible to watch. I don’t know much about this director Uwe Boll other than there seems to be some controversy regarding his talent, and if this is an example…I can see why. The movie had so many ploy holes that you could drive a truck through them. The filming was utter crap. Those goofy living vines? They looked about the same as the stop-motion stuff in the Sinbad movie from when I was a kid.
I can’t honestly recommend this movie unless you have nothing better to do on a Sunday. Thank goodness I have the Blockbuster monthly deal, because if i paid $2.99 to rent this I’d be pissed. Don’t even think about buy it.
If I ever see another movie that says directed by Uwe Boll, I’m going to keep walking. I think my 14-year old could have made a better movie.
