Movie Trailers Official Max Payne Theatrical Trailer

You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video

This trailer for Max Payne is about one-minute longer than the other versions I’ve seen in the past. The movie will be out October 17, and it doesn’t look too bad for a supernatural action flick. What do you think?

Television News HBO Cancels Preacher

Preacher

It’s a totally slow news day so this is al I’ve got. Preacher is action-packed series of graphic novels that follows a possessed Texas preacher on a journey to find God. It’s full of mayhem, drinking, and of course sex. Pretty much all the bad things you can think of. It was supposed to be on HBO and now it seems that idea is gone.

Comics Continuum spoke to Mark Steven Johnson (Ghost Rider, Daredevil), who says that his adaptation of Garth Ennis’ “Preacher” won’t be happening at HBO.”We were budgeting and everything and it was getting really close to going,” Johnson said. “But the new head of HBO felt it was just too dark and too violent and too controversial. Which, of course, is kind of the point!”It was a very faithful adaptation of the first few books, nearly word for word. They offered me the chance to redevelop it but I refused. I’ve learned my lesson on that front and I won’t do it again. So I’m afraid it’s dead at HBO.

The whole idea that HBO would take that stance is surprising. This is the network that had Deadwood. It was full of drinking, murder, sex (with nudity), and of course a record number of “F-bombs” in a one-hour period. Don’t get me wrong, I loved Deadwood and wish it would come back and finish the storylines. Anyway, I guess that’s why I’m suprised at the news on Preacher. What do you think?

Vin Diesel Mentions Two More Riddick Sequels

Riddick

Now this is cool news to me. I liked Pitch Black for what it was and The Chronicles of Riddick was an underestimated movie in my opinion. I liked it and I’ve seen it a few times. It actually holds up as a great sci-fi movie, a genre that I love of course. Anyway Vin Diesel has revealed that there are two more Riddick movies planned.

“David Twowy right now is writing the scripts. The only question is whether we take a page from the ‘Lord of the Rings’ guys and try to shoot the two chapters at the same time. There are two more in mind,” he said of Riddick, the Furyan warrior first introduced in the 2000 film “Pitch Black.” “‘The Chronicles of Riddick’ was presented as a three part trilogy that would answer ‘Pitch Black’ in the same way that ‘Lord of the Rings’ answered ‘The Hobbit.’”

Those are lofty goals indeed for a movie that was very poorly received when it opened in 2004, and had a mediocre performance at the domestic box-office (where it made just $57 million). Diesel, though, is undaunted, insisting that the long space between sequels has nothing to do with convincing others to get on board, and everything to do with wanting to get it right. (To be fair, “Riddick” performed well overseas, and also spawned a best-selling video game which many considered to be better than the movie.)

“Everyone knows I love the Riddick character and I’m always working on it,” Diesel asserted. “It just takes five years to make another one because David Twohy and I are so precious about it.”

So where will Riddick go next? After taking the throne of the Necromonger King at the end of the last chapter, is there any doubt?

“Sooner or later we all end up in the Underverse,” he said of where we can expect the next chapter to take place, adding in a Riddick-like voice, “Sooner or later.”

So what do you think out there? Yeah you! I want to know what you thought of the Riddick movies and also if you want to see more of that character.

Movie News I Love You Phillip Morris Has Kissing

I Love You Phillip Morris

This new film coming out next year, I Love You Phillip Morris looks like it has Ewan McGregor and Jim Carrey getting fairly close. In fact, one thing that was said about the movie is:

While pitching the film for financing last year, it was described as a Catch Me if You Can meets Brokeback Mountain.

Source

In the movie Jim Carrey plays con artist Steven Russell and Ewan McGregor is Phillip Morris. These two end up in a Texas jail together and fall in love. Sounds pretty edgy and I’m sure it will get about the same reception and round of practical jokes as Brokeback had.
