I Am Legend Prequel and Hancock 2?

hancockposterRumor is that there will be a Hancock sequel, and an I Am Legend prequel, and both will star Will Smith. I Am Legend 2 will detail the final days before the outbreak.  I find it hard to believe that many people will be interested in this one… (SPOILER ALERT STOP READING WARNING!), I mean I Am Legend was a great movie, but Smith’s character died at the end, so we know how that story ends.  It ends badly for his character.  Are people going to want to see a movie where we know there is no hope, no happy silver lining at the end?

I haven’t seen Hancock, however despite mixed reviews I am looking forward to getting in on it when it comes to DVD/Blu-ray.  There isn’t much out there right now about the sequel, but word is that Sony is quietly working on one.

    See, that’s the funny thing about people. Everyone went to see Titanic didn’t they? I mean, were they really expecting the Leo to save the day by miraculously keeping the boat from sinking? Although that would have been a comical alternative, I think people fully expected the ending as it was.

    Given that… people will watch anything with the right amount of marketing dollars behind it.

    Hmm.. you bring up a good point. Still, with the Titanic movie, there was a good chance that at least one of the primary stars would make it out alive. After all, there were survivors. In this case we know what the end result will be. We also know when and where his family will die, when and where the outbreak will occur, etc. Let me ask you this… will you watch it?! Thanks for your comments.

    Yeah, I’d watch it. I loved the original (Omega Man) and had been waiting for this remake for years – back when they were going to use Arnold (around 2000-ish).

    Then again, I’m just a sucker for post-apocalyptic type flicks. Call me crazy :)

    What great play was it where we knew the ending was a tradgedy…. something about a guy named Romeo… @Rxrunnr, they are talking about I am Legend not Hancock, also, it’s not handcock (<— handcock the pr0n version of Edward scizzorhands)
