Lara Croft is getting ready for a franchise reboot and I’m sure there has to be a few happy fans out there. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. gained the rights back after Paramount allowed them to lapse and producer Dan Lin are working to reboot Tomb Raider completely.
The previous two Paramount films will be ignored (as all reboots do) and just start fresh just like the latest video games have, giving her an updated origin, and new villains, and love interests.
Of course, this means there will be a new actress as well because Warner Bros isn’t planning on bringing Angelina Jolie back so the studio plans to attach a writer and director first, and then find a new Lara Croft. I bunch of Internet rumors spreng up immediately saying Megan Fox was going to be in it, but this is so far 1) denied by her reps and 2) wishful thinking. I’ll personally cast my vote though for the original Lara Croft model, Rhona Mitra, who’s been in Doomsday, Skinwalkers, and Underworld: Rise of the Lycans.
