nick_and_norahs_infinite_playlistDisclaimer:  My wife made me watch this.  It was her turn to pick out a movie, and I had already vetoed several others.  I didn’t want to watch it, mainly because I figured with a title like that there wouldn’t be any 1) Cars exploding or 2) Slo-mo knife or gun fights.  However, I must admit that despite my initial misgivings, I enjoyed nearly every frame.

Nick and Nora is about a guy (Michael Cera who seems to have found a niche playing coolish geek waifs) who plays in a gay band.  He’s straight, of course.  Well, he and his girl friend of six months broke up a while ago, and since then he has been making CD’s for her.  Also, he has been calling and leaving long messages for her.  So, he’s a stalker.  Nice.

Well, anyway, his ex thinks this behavior is rather silly.  She was cheating on him anyway and is now going out with someone else.  She keeps tossing his CD’s in the trash.

Nora (Kat Dennings) keeps fishing them out.  Though she has never met Nick, she has fallen in love with him through his music selections.   What will happen when they finally meet? Though the outcome is entirely predictable, there are a few surprises and a lot of laughs along the way.  There is an especially disgusting scene too, that made me shudder just now when I thought about it.  You’ll really think about gun chewing in a whole new way after seeing this movie.

The acting is great, and there are a lot of laughs.  However, I most enjoyed the soundtrack which is just great.  I downloaded it from iTunes.  Total Rating: ★★★★☆
