Tom Cruise is interesting in a comic book movie called Sleeper and and he and Sam Raimi are looking to adapt the DC Comics/Wildstorm property for the big screen.

Written by Ed Brubaker with art by Sean Phillips, “Sleeper,” which ran from 2003-05, centers on an operative whose fusion with an alien artifact makes him impervious to pain and allows him to pass it on to others through skin contact. He is placed undercover in a villainous organization by an intelligence agency and falls for a member of the group, named Miss Misery.

The comic-book, which is a spin-off of WildC.A.T.s would make a pretty cool movie, but not half as cool as WildC.A.T.s would be. Now that would be a movie!

The website JustJared has gotten some photos of Jake Gyllenhaal on the set of Prince of Persia and they’re interesting. He’s playing Dastan, the prince, and the first thing that gets me is the crazy fake hair. The second thing is that he doesn’t even look remotely Persian. This whole thing reminds me of when they made a Mario and Luigi movie. Game over.

Talk about a sad weekend! Isaac Hayes died today after collapsing near his treadmill at home. He was 65. From MSN:Hayes was pronounced dead at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis an hour after he was found by a family member, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office said. The cause of death was not immediately known.

With his muscular build, shiny head and sunglasses, Hayes cut a striking figure at a time when most of his contemporaries were sporting Afros. His music, which came to be known as urban-contemporary, paved the way for disco as well as romantic crooners like Barry White.

And in his spoken-word introductions and interludes, Hayes was essentially rapping before there was rap. His career hit another high in 1997 when he became the voice of Chef, the sensible school cook and devoted ladies man on the animated TV show “South Park.”

“Actor/comedian Bernie Mac passed away this morning from complications due to pneumonia in a Chicago area hospital,” his publicist, Danica Smith, said in a statement from Los Angeles. ”

Bernie Mac was the star of The Bernie Mac Show from 2001 - 2006. It earned him a Peabody award. He was also recently seen in Transformers as a shady used-car salesman.

Currently, he has several projects in post-production. No word yet as to how his death will change things:

Old Dogs (movie 2009): “Two friends and business partners find their lives turned upside down when strange circumstances lead to them being placed in the care of 7-year-old twins.” He played Jimmy Lunchbox in this film which also stars Robin Williams, Seth Green, John Travolta and a lot of other people.(IMDB)

Soul Men (movie 2008): “Though it’s been some twenty years since they have spoken with one another, two estranged soul-singing legends (Jackson and Mac) agree to participate in a reunion performance at the Apollo Theater to honor their recently deceased band leader.” He played Floyd in this one, opposite Samuel L. This is a bit surprising, but it seems that Luke Perry has no plans to be in the new 90210 spin-off series.

“I can’t re-imagine it currently,” Perry told The Billy Bush Show Thursday.

“It’s just not something that I’ve thought about to be quite honest,” Perry, who played brooding rebel Dylan McKay revealed. “I don’t see it happening.”

As for his former castmates Spelling and Garth, “I wish them a lot of luck. I hope they have a lot of success with it,” Perry said.

I suppose he’s forgotten what having a career is like. No, I’m not trying to be a hater, but I honestly haven’t seen the guy in anything in a long time. Well, except for a few crappy movies I suppose. You’d think getting a chance to re-connect with a whole generation would be something exciting, but I guess not.

Harvey Korman passed away yesterday and that is something really sad because he was a fantastic and funny actor. I used to watch The Carol Burnett Show every week as a kid and he always made me laugh.

Harvey Korman, the tall, versatile comedian who won four Emmys for his outrageously funny contributions to “The Carol Burnett Show” and played a conniving politician to hilarious effect in “Blazing Saddles,” died Thursday. He was 81.

Korman died at UCLA Medical Center after suffering complications from the rupture of an abdominal aortic aneurysm four months ago, his family said. He had undergone several major operations.

“He was a brilliant comedian and a brilliant father,” daughter Kate Korman said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press. “He had a very good sense of humor in real life. ”

A natural second banana, Korman gained attention on “The Danny Kaye Show,” appearing in skits with the star. He joined the show in its second season in 1964 and continued until it was canceled in 1967. That same year he became a cast member in the first season of “The Carol Burnett Show.”

Sad news indeed.

Dolph Lundgren is a former karate champion and model that hit it big in 80’s action movies. I actually like the guy in some stuff like Universal Soldier and as the crazy street preacher in Johnny Mnemonic.

So now Dolph with be starring and directing Command Performance, which is an action thriller he co-wrote.

Lundgren has spent the past few months in postproduction on his previous directing and acting vehicle, Sony’s “Missionary Man,” prepping it for a debut at next week’s AFI Dallas festival. He is coming off a starring turn in another Millennium/Nu Image actioner, “Direct Contact.”

Actually, I just had to point out here that The Hollywood Reporter must be confused. That Missionary Man is sitting on the shelf at my local Blockbuster and has been for the last 3+ weeks. I have no idea why it’s supposedly about to “debut.”

Lundgren describes “Command” as ” ‘Die Hard’ at a rock concert,” with the story focusing on a drummer for the warm-up band of a big American performer giving a concert for the Russian premier. Naturally, the bad guys break up the show. And just as naturally, the drummer is an ex-Marine.

“I got the idea from Madonna,” Lundgren said. “She did a concert for (Russian President Vladimir) Putin a few years ago.”

Now that sounds like one incredible movie idea… not. Why did all action movies turn into “Die Hard in a ________” type movies?

Collin Chou who played Seraph in the Matrix Trilogy (movies 2 & 3) recently spoke to SCI FI Wire and said he has one of the four lead parts in a new fantasy ninja film being produced by Larry and Andy Wachowski. Variety is saying it’s called Ninja Assassin.

“I don’t think I’m supposed to talk about it, but I am working with the Wachowski brothers next month, and I look forward to working with them again on a major movie,” Chou said in an interview at the Wizard World convention in Los Angeles over the weekend. “It will be in Berlin.” As for the film’s title, Chou said: “I don’t know if that’s the final name yet.” Chou played Seraph in all three of the Wachowskis’ Matrix films.

Chou also confirmed a longstanding rumor that he is playing a role that Jet Li turned down. “I have to say that I’m constantly grateful to Jet Li, and I thank him all the time, but that is personal,” Chou joked. (Chou co-stars with Li and Jackie Chan in the upcoming fantasy martial-arts film The Forbidden Kingdom.)

Chou said that the Wachowskis’ ninja movie starts production in late April or early May. “And this is a part that is built around me,” he said. “They have wanted to have me in a larger part, and I was waiting and waiting for a long time for it to happen. I am one of four of the main characters in this movie. It is a great honor to be on board.”

I definitely remember Collin from the Matrix. He was bad ass and Seraph was one of my favorite characters.
