Harry Potter is just one of those movies I watch and then tend to forget about. I’ve seen them all and I am a fantasy movie lover, but there’s just been so darn many that they all become a blur. Anyway, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince does look pretty interesting and I hope it’s more memorable than the others. It comes out November 21st, 2008 so prepare to see a 1000 Harry Potters at your local mall when it does.

The fourth movie for Indiana Jones has hit it big. Since the movie’s opening on Thursday, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull has made an estimated $311 million around the world.

It marked the second biggest Memorial Day weekend opening in history, behind only Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End which made $153 million domestically from Thursday to Monday last year.

“Adults really drove this opening. This is one of their favorite franchises and they couldn’t wait to take their kids with them,” Rob Moore, president of Paramount Worldwide Distribution told the Reuters.

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian did reasonable at the box office this weekend making over $56 million. Supposedly though, the movie had a budget of $200 million so it could mean trouble for the rest of the franchise based on the C.S. Lewis’ series of books. In case you didn’t know, here’s the rest of the books titles in the series.

• Prince Caspian: The Return to Narnia
• The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

• The Horse and His Boy
• The Magician’s Nephew

I wonder if they’re going to be able to continue with the rest. If they don’t make money they probably won’t and that would be a shame to let the whole project die.

I just checked out the trailer for City of Ember and I had no idea what it was about. I have to say that it looks really great though. I noticed Bill Murray and Tim Robbins in it, which only made me appreciate it even more. Here’s a bit of back-story:

For generations, the people of the City of Ember have flourished in an amazing world of glittering lights. But Ember’s once powerful generator is failing … and the great lamps that illuminate the city are starting to flicker. Now, two teenagers in a race against time, must search Ember for clues that will unlock the ancient mystery of the city’s existence, and help the citizens escape before the lights go out forever.

I’m certainly open to seeing what new adventures The Clone Wars is going to offer for the Star Wars universe and of course it’s really all about watching some more really cool lightsaber battles. Check out this preview and enjoy!

Star Wars: The Clone Wars Trailer

It’s all in the very early stages, but there could be something in the works for a Buck Rogers movie.

Nu Image/Millennium Films has acquired film rights to “Buck Rogers,” and will give live action screen treatment to the venerable pilot who awakens in the 25th Century and battles evil.

Nu Image/Millennium’s Avi Lerner got the rights from the Dille Trust, which is run by the surviving family of series originator Frank Dille. Those rights had once been with Disney, but the Dille family was attracted to moving them to a small movie and gaining more control over the direction of the film. Despite web reports that Frank Miller had boarded the project, sources at Millennium disputed than any creatives had yet aligned to the project.

If they updated the series and made it a bit more serious and less “campy” then previous versions of Buck, then I think we could have the makings of something good. I’m pulling for Serenity star (and from FOX’s Drive which I’m still mad that was cancelled), Nathan Fillion. That would be awesome.

You better get moving to check out the new trailer to Star Wars: The Clone Wars that was just leaked online. It actually looks pretty darn cool, but don’t take my word for it. Get going before someone gets wind of it and takes it down.

Dreamworks and Paramount are putting together a a 3D animated adventure comedy called Monsters vs Aliens. It’s about a girl who gets hit by a meteor and becomes almost 50-feet tall. She’s then known as a “monster” named Ginormica by the military and captured to a secret government base. Turns out the government also has captured other monsters like Dr. Cockroach, Ph.D., part fish and ape The Missing Link, B.O.B. the blob, and a giant grub named Insectosaurus.

When a mysterious alien robot comes to Earth and begins attacking, they’re called into action.

The cast sounds really great too. Reese Witherspoon as Susan Murphy, a.k.a. Ginormica, Hugh Laurie as Dr. Cockroach, Ph.D., Will Arnett  as The Missing Link, Seth Rogen as B.O.B., Rainn Wilson as Gallaxhar, Stephen Colbert as The President of the United States, Kiefer Sutherland as General W.R. Monger, and Paul Rudd as Susan’s boyfriend, Derek.

The whole thing sounds pretty cool.

The new poster for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull shows a clearly non-human skull. If you add in the trailer scenes that have been shown featuring a crate stamped Roswell New Mexico, then you have all the makings of some mysterious adventure. I’m really looking forward to joining Dr. Jones again for this one.
