Movie Trailers Body of Lies Trailer

Body of Lies

I saw this trailer in on the big screen before the Batman movie, but Body of Lies didn’t totally grab me. Maybe that’s because I was in batman mode. Still, it’s Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe so I have no doubt that this will be an excellent movie. It comes out October 10. Have a peek.

Movie News The Road Looks Interesting and Bleak

The Road

This movie The Road will certainly be of interest to me because it mentions two things right off the bat. Viggo Mortensen and post-apocalyptic. How could I miss out. It sort of reminds me of an S.M. Stirling book called Wolf and Iron and I highly recommend it. Anyway, here’s the scoop:

That book is Cormac McCarthy’s Pulitzer Prize winner of the same name. It’s about a father and son who navigate a countryside devastated by an unnamed catastrophe.

The film, which stars Viggo Mortensen, Charlize Theron and 11-year-old Kodi Smit-McPhee, also was shot in Katrina-ravaged New Orleans and on Mount St. Helens in Washington state for scenes of devastation.

But most of the film was shot in and around Pittsburgh.

Hillcoat found abandoned coal fields, a deserted amusement park and an 8-mile stretch of closed freeway as locations.

“It’s tangible, the misery and hopelessness and the bleakness,” Mortensen says. “It gives you much more to work with if you’re filming in that world instead of a green screen.

“You have to bring a story to life in a movie in a way you don’t have to in a book - even a book as powerful as that.”

But Mortensen says that, like the book, the film adaptation is more than bleak imagery.

“I spoke with Cormac before we started shooting,” he says. “I think what’s made this story so universally loved is because it’s really about protecting your child, no matter what the circumstances.

“At its core, it’s a love story.”

Sounds like something pretty great to me. I’ll be looking forward to a trailer on this one.

Grey's Anatomy Katherine Heigl Might Be Killed Off Grey’s Anatomy

Katherine Heigl

Katherine Heigl who plays Dr. Izzie Stevens might be killed off of NBC’s Grey’s Anatomy this next season. The writers might give her character a brain tumor because they are mad about her dropping out of Emmy contention.

Katherine Heigl could be killed off Grey’s Anatomy next season, a well-placed source tells Us Weekly in its latest issue.

The idea came after Heigl, 29, withdrew herself from Emmy contention, saying that she didn’t feel she was “given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination.”

In response to Heigl’s griping, staffers are considering giving her character, Dr. Izzie Stevens, a brain tumor.

“[Producer] Shonda [Rhimes] and the writers are [angry] at her,” the source tells Us. “It’s their way of [messing] with her. She won’t know whether she’s going to live or die.”

That’s pretty harsh, but maybe she wants out because she’s a big movie star now.

Defiance Poster

Defiance

Now this movie Defiance looks interesting simply because of Daniel Craig. I liked him in whatever Tomb Raider flick he was in, and then of course he impressed the hell out of me in Casino Royale. I’ve seen him in The Golden Compass and Invasion too, but I liked him both those times as well so I’m sure a WWII movie like this will be no exception. I really hope that next Bond movie comes out soon.
