Appaloosa

Two things that are awesome together, western movies and Viggo Mortensen. Appaloosa also stars Ed Harris, Jeremy Irons, and Renee Zellweger and it looks really, really good. Appaloosa will be out October 3, 2008.

Movie Trailers There Will Be Blood Trailer

This trailer for There Will Be Blood is interesting, but it didn’t quite complete the question if I’d really like this movie or not. I imagine I would.

There Will Be Blood Trailer

Of course Daniel Day-Lewis is always just freaking amazing and this seems to be no exception. He’s such and incredible actor.

Bearcats from the 70s

BearcatsToday I received an email that reminded me I haven’t posted any great old television memories in a while. This one certainly certainly hit the mark dead-on.

Just discovered your blog site and memories. I wanted to know if you remember a show from the early 70’s called,”the Bearcats” it was a turn of the centruy western about two trouble shooters working for the goverment that used a stutz bearcat to travel around on. They could take off the tires and place it on the train rails and travel from town to town just by pressing down on the accelerator and folowwing the rails. It starred Rod Taylor and Dennis Cole. It had a pilot movie called Powerkeg! which led to the series which lasted only one season. but it was great.

I darn well do remember that show (and thanks for the email!) It was during a time when I was totally into westerns and the concept was similar to having a machine gun in Camelot. The show followed on a pair of ex-soldiers in the early 1900s. It starred Rod Tayler as Hank Brackett and Dennis Cole as his partner Johnny Reach. Together they helped people out as “troubleshooters” and their fee was a signed blank check.

The great thing about this show was due to the time period it was set in, they could use technology without getting too corny like The Wild, Wild West. They had machine guns, airplanes and of course, the Stutz Bearcat car.

There’s not much around about this old show and I wasn’t able to find any video clips. It’s probably because this series only lasted a single season and then lost the ratings war. I did find a couple interesting sites. Enjoy!

Movie Trailers The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford Teaser

All of my life I’ve been a fan of westerns. This doesn’t look too bad, but then again…it’s only a teaser. doesn’t do much other then stand around in this and there certainly isn’t any action heppening. It IS only a teaser though.

Television News Deadwood might not return

This is some seriously bad news if it’s true. When Deadwood ended, I was crushed. It was one of the best shows on television and had a fantastic cast. I was really looking forward to the creators wrapping things up nicely.

Deadwood

Creator David Milch has just finished up “John From Cincinnati,” which is the series that took his attention away from “Deadwood.” To get “Deadwood” back up and running, Milch would have to recharge his batteries and assuming he’s interested in going back to the Black Hills, the actors would have to be rounded up again.

That’s no easy task. Many of the thesps have moved on to other shows and films. Plus, it might not be a financially wise decision to bring back the entire production.

Bummer.

Enjoy some Deadwood cast pictures just for old times sake.

Movie Trailers 3:10 to Yuma Trailer

I’m a big western movie fan and while ol’ Clint Eastwood hasn’t been on the scene in a while, at least I had the darn good Open Range to enjoy (one of the best westerns of all time). Now it time for 3:10 from Yuma, which is a remake of the 1957 film of the same name that starred Glenn Ford and Van Heflin.

This however looks damn good. It’s stars Russell Crowe and Christian Bale. Check out the trailer. You won’t be sorry partner.

Ok, I just had to slide that one in.

In Arizona in the late 1800’s, infamous outlaw Ben Wade (Russell Crowe) and his vicious gang of thieves and murderers have plagued the Southern Railroad. When Wade is captured, Civil War veteran Dan Evans (Christian Bale), struggling to survive on his drought-plagued ranch, volunteers to deliver him alive to the “3:10 to Yuma”, a train that will take the killer to trial. On the trail, Evans and Wade, each from very different worlds, begin to earn each other’s respect. But with Wade’s outfit on their trail – and dangers at every turn – the mission soon becomes a violent, impossible journey toward each man’s destiny.
