In keeping with this week’s theme I started with the blog entry on Blue Thunder, I decided to add Airwolf to the mix.

Airwolf

Airwolf was perhaps the coolest helicopter on the planet when I was younger and also the show with the lamest plots ever. Basically, it was about a rogue pilot name Stringfellow Hawke (Jan-Michael Vincent who was actually a pretty big star once) who made a deal with a covert U.S. agency called, “The Firm”. They were helping him to locate his missing brother in Vietnam and he would fly their high-tech helicopter on dangerous missions.

His partner was the bumbling Dominic Santini (the awesome Ernest Borgnine) who always helped Hawke save the day. The helicopter used in the show was a modified “Bell 222″ that was customized heavily with hidden rockets, machine-guns, and turbo jets that could help the helicopter compete with a plane for speed.

Airwolf was on CBS for its first three seasons (so I won’t list all the episodes) and then it’s final season it was on the USA Network. The fourth season starred Barry Van Dyke as Saint John Hawke. Have a look at what was also one of the coolest intros on television.
