Harry Potter WB Response to Fans Over Harry Potter Delay

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Warner Brothers President Alan Horn has made an official statement to fans who are upset about the moving of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince from November to July.

Many of you have written to me to express your disappointment in our moving “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” to Summer 2009.

Please be assured that we share your love for Harry Potter and would certainly never do anything to hurt any of the films. Over the past 10 years, we have nurtured and protected each film, and the integrity of the books upon which they are based, to the best of our ability.

The decision to move “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” was not taken lightly, and was never intended to upset our Harry Potter fans. We know you have built this series into what it is, and we thank you for your ongoing enthusiasm and support.

If I may offer a silver lining: there would have been a two-year gap between “Half-Blood Prince” and the much-anticipated first part of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” which opens in November 2010.

So although we have to wait a little longer for “Half-Blood Prince,” the wait from that film until “Deathly Hallows” will be less than 18 months. I am sorry to have disappointed you now, but if you hold on a little longer, I believe it will be worth the wait.

Alan Horn
President, Chief Operating Officer
Warner Bros.

Look at the silver lining he says. Clearly this is a man that’s never been mobbed by 200 kids/adults all dressed as Harry Potter.

Harry Potter Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Bumped to July 2009!

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Holy Lightning Scars! Warner Bros. has announced that Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, is now going to come out July 2009 instead of Nov 2008. It’s like that moment in Star wars when a planet exploded. You can just feel all the Potter People (Potterites? Pottarians?) cry out in anguish.

Commenting on the release date change for “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” David Heyman, the producer of all the Harry Potter films, offered, “When Jeff Robinov explained the rationale behind moving the release date of ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’ to July 2009, it was immediately apparent that this offered us the potential to reach the widest possible audience. I am extremely proud of this latest film and of the work of David Yates and our incomparable cast; I believe we have developed and pushed the series further still. We are all looking forward to sharing it with Harry Potter fans around the world, even if we have to wait just a bit longer.”

So it’s not a problem with the film, but rather just a plan to get more exposure for Harry. That’s a good thing, but waiting over half a year extra sucks.

Harry Potter Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Trailer

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Harry Potter is just one of those movies I watch and then tend to forget about. I’ve seen them all and I am a fantasy movie lover, but there’s just been so darn many that they all become a blur. Anyway, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince does look pretty interesting and I hope it’s more memorable than the others. It comes out November 21st, 2008 so prepare to see a 1000 Harry Potters at your local mall when it does.

Harry Potter Final Harry Potter Movie Being Split

Harry Potter

Here’s something interesting. The final movie Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is being split into two movies that will hit theatres November 2010 and then May 2011.

“Deathly Hallows,” the seventh in the series, is weighty in more ways than one: The boy wizard and his pals battle archnemesis Voldemort to the death. Tome sold a record 11 million copies during the first 24 hours after it hit bookshelves last July.

The sixth movie in the franchise, “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” debuts on the bigscreen in November. It is also being directed by Yates, who helmed the fifth installment, “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.” Kloves has also been a steady presence for the franchise; he will have written seven of the eight adaptations, having missed only “Order of the Phoenix.”

Sounds like they want to follow many aspects of the book and not leave things out so you super Potter fans are probably rejoicing. Supposedly the fact that he movies rake in tons of cash is not a factor for the studio. Okay, sure…

What's on DVD DVD Releases for Tuesday December 11th 2007

I missed putting these up yesterday. I was probably too excited for what was coming out this week. I’ve got Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End on my Christmas list and this week has two more titles that I’m adding. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is one I’m looking forward to seeing and I’ll buy it because I’ve got all the others, but the real big ticket item is The Bourne Ultimatum.

The Bourne UltimatumHarry Potter and the Order of the PhoenixHigh School Musical 2Interview

I can’t even say enough about the Bourne movies. I’ve seen the previous two movies dozens of times and I never get tired of them. The Bourne Ultimatum is just as good as the others. Maybe better. I highly recommend it.

  • The Adventures of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit
  • Beverly Hills 90210: The Third Season
  • Big Love: The Complete Second Season
  • Boston Red Sox 2007 World Series
  • The Bourne Ultimatum
  • The Chronological Donald Volume 3: 1947-1950
  • December Boys
  • Dirt: The Complete First Season
  • Disneyland: Secrets, Stories & Magic
  • Frasier: The Tenth Season
  • Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
  • Harry Potter DVD Game: Hogwarts Challenge
  • High School Musical 2
  • Interview
  • Lost: The Complete Third Season
  • The Rocket

I’m not really into High School Musical 2 and Interview is a bit of a wild card, but I thought I’d mention them as a couple other good ones for the weekly release. Oh, HBO’s Big Love the Second Season is out too. You should be able to rent them and that’s another highly recommended show.

Movies Top Ten Best Movie Series Ever? Part 1

This is, in my completely unprofessional (you have to be paid to be a professional!) opinion are the best Movie Series ever.

Since this ended up being such a long blog, I thought I would break it up. Today are numbers 10 through 6.

What do you think? There are plenty more great movies out there, many of which I have completely forgotten about or simply didn’t have enough room for. Leave a comment below. I’d love to hear what you think!

Star Trek10 Star Trek: I would have to say that this set of movies consists of some of the best, and also some of the worst movies I’ve seen. It’s true: the even movies are much stronger than the odd movies. The worst, by far are the first and fifth movies. I think the Geneva conventions would frown upon anyone showing those two pieces of drek to prisoners of war.

The even movies are generally the best. Of course, The Wrath of Kahn is a favorite among most Trekies. However, my favorites are the Voyage Home (IV), and The Undiscovered County (VI).

The even movies aren’t all top tier, however. I would have to say the lowest of the low points was the set-up and subsequent death of Data, which occurred in the most recent film, an even numbered entry. Ho Hum… talk about a yawner.
Oh, and of course pretty much all of the aforementioned Star Trek V. Boy, that one sure was a dog turd.

I still remember the special thrill I felt when I saw a trailer for a new Star Trek movie. Even the trailers were often better than the movies they preceded.

What I learned from these movies: A) When faced with a task at work, always overestimate wildly the time it will take to finish it. B) “I always set my phaser to stun,” really isn’t all that good of a pickup line.

Pirates of the Caribbean,9) Pirates of The Caribbean: OK, I admit it. I am a sucker for silly spectacle. While I was really disappointed in the Third movie, I definitely would like to see it again, if only for the dream sequence. These movies have a lot of things going for them, and mostly those things have the faces of dead presidents on them. Yes, I am talking about boatloads, and I mean boatloads of money, which is what this trilogy made. And while yes, this trilogy was ultimately an empty one, it started a lot of stars on their way upward, and cemented Johnny Depp as being one weird, talented dude. Not bad for a concept that got its start as a ride.

There is even word of not one, but several more Pirates movies on the way. Avast!

What I learned from these movies: A) Never ever trust a pirate. Duh! B) Never make deals with the East India Trading Company. C) Pirates generally have one or more of the following: sharp knives, haunted gold, rotten teeth, and killer body odor.
